Timeline: An expansion of Chapter 43 of The Silence of the Lambs. Story begins as Dr. Lecter checks in to the Marcus Hotel in St. Louis.

Rated: Mmm

Hey, Lecterbuds! Here’s a new one-shot for you. Just a fun little scenario that precedes Skin Game, which, if you’re interested, can be read in its entirety on It’s still in progress. It just takes too bloody long to do all the formatting to post it all here.

~~ ** ~~

Dr. Hannibal Lecter stood at the registration desk of the elegant Marcus Hotel in St. Louis. He wore a brown hat and a raincoat buttoned to the neck. A neat surgical bandage covered his nose and cheeks.

He signed the register ‘Lloyd Wyman,’ a signature he had practiced in Wyman’s car…

The bellman who carried Wyman’s bags to the small suite got one of Wyman’s five-dollar bills in compensation.

Dr. Lecter ushered the bellman out, finally shutting a door between himself and the world at large. He turned slowly and leaned against it, his eyes closed. Palms pressed to the door, he stroked the fine wood grain behind his back, a welcomed and significant pleasure. Only a man in his position could truly appreciate his relief.

Timeline: After Hannibal film

Author’s Note: I hate song fics.  I really, really do.  That said…  Thanks to Big Country and various composers, etc., for their (unauthorized, but appreciated) input.

Thomas Harris thought them up.  I just play with them.

Disclaimer:  Standard statement of respect and legality: Tom’s man but my woman… or is she?

Summary:  A bit o’ bILGe.  Hannibal, it seems, does not appreciate fawning, ingratiating or unctuous behavior, even from his most avid fans.

Timeline:  An alternate universe tale; outside of canon.

Night closes in, deepening dark envelopes the lonely countryside, birthing twisted shadow-shapes that inhabit youngster’s dreams.

Pelting rain.

Wipers straining double-time, lulling, though not restfully, tired heavy eyes…

Familiar piano notes play softly, partnering with metronome rhythm….

Sleep, swish, sleep, swish.

Red eyes fly open, instinct reactions jerk the wheel straight.

The day had been long and tiresome.

Deep sigh.

In the distance, lights.

A ‘coffee shop.’ And ‘Mot l’.

How droll.

Not one to endanger his own life, but rather, others’, Dr. Lecter pulled in for a rest, navigating carefully through the maze of ancient potholes and wilted Indian tobacco, taking care to park as far from the giant waving cuppa as possible, a decrepit mascot to long-haul truckers far and wide, a beacon to which rubes and commoners of all ilk were inexplicably drawn, its hideous neon grin a throwback to post-war Nabokovian America.

(UKP) British children’s entertainers, the “Teletubbies” were found dead this week in their underground compound. The execution-style murders baffle Scotland Yard as they attempt to piece together the events of Thursday evening, last.

Tinky-Winky, Dipsy, Laa Laa and Po, known to millions of tots world-wide, are said to have suffered terribly at the hands of a particularly fiendish assailant. Each victim was stabbed repeatedly by a small blade, perhaps that of a Swiss Army knife, speculates Nigel Holmsbury, London coroner.

Incredibly, the slayings closely parallel certain aspects of last year’s infamous “Barney” and “Elmo” butcherings in America, which remain unsolved to this day. Although no arrows were used in the British televisions star’s murders, the same tiny stab wounds were in evidence in both cases….

Glad and sorry, sorry and glad.

Timeline:  Set before Barney’s employ, before all the fun with that Dolarhyde fellow.

Chapter 1

He noticed her presence long before acquiescing to raise his head.  He’d spoken not a word since his sentencing eighteen months previous, preferring the amusement of silence in the face of his ‘keepers’ and those eager beavers come to study–to ogle–the personification of aberrant human behavior.  He remained mentally present during their visits, choosing to be fully and deliciously aware of their growing agitation, rather than retiring to the most excellent comforts of his memory palace.  At first, he’d shown obvious outer amusement as their frustration levels increased, baiting them.  But this had become repetitious and predictable, ruining his fun.  It ended the game much too quickly, as it drove his visitors to the limits of their tolerance before he had even savored the tip of their pain-icebergs.  They retreated quickly back down the hallway to the safety of the outer nurses’ station, sometimes in tears.  The tears were his personal favorite, but he’d decided after a few months that he wanted to play them a bit more than he’d allowed previously.  Fish on a line… reel it in, let it run.  Ahh, such fun he could have with them all.

Chapter 6

The re-establishment of sound reception precedes other aspects of resurfacing consciousness, but when there is nothing to hear, there is no connection with the physical world until the sensation of touch revives.  A sort of limbo, neither temporal nor metaphysical, envelops one emerging from the blank depths of unconsciousness–for without means to sense it, there might be no universe at all.  The time, space, matter continuum suspends, hanging precariously in the intangible tesseract of the human brain that contains perception.

She lay motionless, the wrinkle in her mind reluctantly dissipating as Brain called Senses to order, demanding their accountability.
